Changing Up My Skin Care With Palmers & Magnitone

skin care

Getting Older

There is no denying that I’m getting older! I swear I turned 29 and the day after I was making Ollie pluck grey hairs from my head!! I have started to notice my skin isn’t quite the youth it once was and I think it’s about time I changed up my skin care routine to look after my skin!

Skin Care Routine

Long gone are the days where I can roll into bed with a full face of my favourite organic makeup and remove it when I wake up the next morning! My skin used to be resilient and easy to maintain. It didn’t matter if I skipped skin care steps and in fact, there were long periods where I didn’t even have a skin care routine! Over the last few years, I have begun taking my skin care much more seriously but in honesty, it’s still not up to a whole lot of much. It wasn’t until I took a long look at how much my skin had aged that I knew something had to change fast!

Make Up Removal

The first step of any skin routine has to be make up removal. Some people can remove their make up along with their cleansing but for me this has to be done before hand or I tend to breakout! Most days I wear make up and I have started to notice how that is having an impact on my skin. It’s not the daily wear but more the make up removal thats taking it’s toll. I don’t like using cleansers that are too harsh and soap dries out my face terribly. I find that make up removal requires a lot of scrubbing which isn’t good for such a sensitive part of the body!

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been using the Wipeout Cleansing Cloths from Magnitone and I’ve been really impressed. I read a while ago that using a microfibre cloth is better for your skin than most things but what really took my eye about the Magnitone Cloths was they claim to remove make up with just water.

If I’m honest when I first heard about them I thought that they sounded too good to be true but I was actually really impressed at how effective they are. I like that all you need is warm water and you’re good to go which is perfect! It has to be said I was nervous that using a cloth and water alone would struggle with some of the oil based makeup I have. I imagined just smearing it around my face! That’s not an issue at all though and the cloths are soooo soft and gentle on the skin.

The face cloths are reusable and can be washed in the machine at 30 degrees! We are all accountable for landfill and waste so by replacing make up remover wipes with something reusable is really appealing to me.

Cleansing

After make up removal I have been using a facial cleansing oil from Palmers. I liked the idea of this because it is hydrating. I suffer with Psoriasis which is something i have mentioned before. This means my skin is often dry. If I use certain soaps on my face it just dries me out even more!

The facial cleansing oil can be used to remove makeup from the face and eyes but I use it after my make up is removed to cleanse the skin. I really loved the smell and my skin felt hydrated after use. The facial cleansing oil comes in a pump bottle which is handy and easy to use. I simply apply a small amount to my face once wet and work it into a foam.

Although I suffer with dry skin I also breakout quite easily so the idea of using an oil based product was worrying but my skin has remained clear and feels good.

Facial Oil

Once my face is make up free, clean and dry I apply the Palmers Perfecting Facial Oil. The oil smells lovely without being heavily perfumed and is a blend of:

I found that the oil seems to be repairing the dry damage that looked like it was set in. My skin is more hydrated as a result of using the oil and looks healthier and more youthful. The oil absorbs quickly without leaving me with that awful greasy feeling on my face.

My Overall Thoughts

These three products are a very simple change to my skin care routine but they are making a big difference. Dry and damaged skin appears older than it is and by adding in that extra moisture and giving my skin the nourishment it needs to repair I really feel like it’s much more youthful! I really recommend that if you are thinking of changing up your skin care routine you consider adding in these products!
