Valentines Gift Guide – Suitable for Pregnant Women

mothers day

If you are a regular reader you will know that we are currently expecting our second child. Pregnancy hasn’t been the best experience for me and I have even documented how I haven’t been enjoying it at all. Pre-child, pre-pregnancy days such as valentines day would often be spent celebrating with champagne, cocktails and a rare steak. All things pregnant women must abstain from. Honestly right now I couldn’t even find something suitable let alone comfortable to wear out to dinner! Pregnancy doesn’t mean the end of valentines celebrations and instead I have put together a valentines gift guide I feel would be perfect for a pregnant woman!

Valentines Gift Guide Suitable for Pregnant Women

My Expert Midwife – Mum To Be Gift Set – £69.99

This gift set is a practical gift that any pregnant woman will be grateful for. It’s above and beyond the usual flowers and chocolates which simply don’t last long. These items will help a Mum to be prepare for birth and help in those moments after. The collection includes four items:

This post-delivery spray provides instant relief from the discomfort and pain caused during child birth. It’s anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and pain relieving. This spray can be used directly onto surgical wounds such as those caused by caesarean section and help keep the area clean and pain free.

Massaging this oil into the perineum area after 34 weeks of pregnancy can help reduce the risk of tearing during labour.

This product helps instantly hydrate, soothe and moisturise tight skin. It can also help reduce the appearance of stretchmarks.

This nipple balm is 100% natural and developed by a midwife. It’s made with pure medical grade lanolin. You can apply the balm one handed and it is entirely safe for baby so no need to remove before breastfeeding. It’s also a great repair cream for use on baby.

The RRP of these items would be £79.00 when all sold separately so by purchasing them in this gift set there is also a saving to be made. I should admit that as a pregnant woman I am nervous about the labour and birth but these products add some reassurance. I would be happy with this set as a valentines gift.

Wax Lyrical Candles

I’ve been a fan of Wax Lyrical candles for years. They have a range of beautiful scents and fragrances that smell authentic without being heavily artificial. The burn time is always good and they melt down equally so you don’t get that horrible well that is left with some candles. I personally like to use scented candles to help me relax and unwind. They are great for use during bath time or as you wind down for the day. Currently I am enjoying using them in my office space and they help me destress and remain relaxed which is of course essentially during pregnancy.

A Wax Lyrical candle would make a great valentines gift for someone who is pregnant and my absolute favourite choices would be the Collier Campbell Vanilla & Amber Wood Glass Candle & the RHS Fragrant Garden Sweet Pea candle find out more about these and the other products available on the Wax Lyrical website here.

So Eco Eye Kit – £14.50

These ethically sourced makeup brushes are a great gift and contain a good selction of eye brushes including:

As I’ve already mentioned pregnancy for me hasn’t got me feeling at my best! I have to admit that when I get the chance to apply a bit of makeup and do my hair I feel that little bit more human and more like myself. It’s really easy to just become this vessel that is growing a child however we are still women and people inside and for me wearing makeup – which is something I love – makes me feel that bit more human. What better reason to apply some slap than a new set of brushes. If you know someone who is feeling a bit like me and also has a love for makeup then this would make a perfect valentines gift.

Swish To Go – £3.00 for 6 sachets

So, this is less of a ‘gift’ and more just a pregnancy essential for me! Since becoming pregnant my senses have all heighted particularly my taste and smell sense. I find myself unattractively gagging at the most bizarre of things. I have a real issue with breath. I find that if my mouth doesn’t feel clean I just want to be sick! I was constantly brushing my teeth but this is of course impractical when out and about. A great solution to that has been using Swish To Go which is completely safe in pregnancy and is like brushing your teeth and using mouthwash but without the need for water or a sink!!

Anyone who is pregnant that likes a clean mouth needs to carry one of these on them! Honestly I make my husband use them regularly especially if he has eaten anything containing garlic! If he didn’t I wouldn’t be able to be in the same room as him!!!!
