Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair (AD – Gifted)

Although it feels like Hugo was born yesterday, he was not, and he is now well into his weaning journey and next stage of babyhood. To help with that we were kindly sent the Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair to review, and I am so excited to tell you how we got on!

Meal Times = Family Time

Meal times are important in our house, and we try where possible to make it a family affair. In this day in age, it’s one of the only times that isn’t dominated by some form of technology, and it reminds everyone to reset and pause for a moment. We have always encouraged our older son Henry to use mealtimes as more than just a necessity to survive and to see them as an opportunity to spend time together. We often discuss our day, make plans and just enjoy the company of each other something we don’t get to do enough during the busy week.

When you bring a baby into the mix things can alter that dynamic slightly, and soon I found that at least one of us would be called away from the table to handle the baby. At the time I never really thought about including Hugo into our meal times because he, of course, wasn’t eating solid food but why shouldn’t he be part of the ambience like everyone else? I started to bring his bouncer chair into the kitchen during meal times, and he would sit on the floor next to us and coo away. He still wasn’t really part of the action though which is why I wish that we had used the Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair sooner!

Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair

The Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair is suitable to use from birth. It sits tall like a standard highchair so you can pull your baby up to the table during meal and family times. It comes with an insert cushion that helps keep newborns snug, and it has 4 levels of recline which combined with the attachable toy bar make things comfortable and entertaining for baby.

We have been using the Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair with Hugo since we began weaning and even though he is now able to sit up and enjoy a meal, there are still times when he likes to recline back and play with the toy bar. It has been a useful addition for keeping him entertained while I cook dinner or help my older son Henry with his homework. This way he can be part of the family and see precisely what is going on which such his nosey personality just fine!

The highchair is easy to clean, comfortable and extremely practical. The attachable tray table is a good size perfect for allowing baby to explore and handle food if baby led weaning. The chair itself is also height adjusting so they can use the table and really feel part of the family! I love that the chair is also on wheels which makes manoeuvring it around the kitchen easy. Even though the highchair looks like a big piece of equipment once folded down, it is easy to store and takes up little space.

What Did We Think?

The Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair isn’t like any standard highchair it comes with several additional features that make it ideal for families right from birth. My main regret is that I didn’t have this highchair when Hugo was a tiny baby because as a mother of two children it can be hard stretching yourself and having that flexibility to bring Hugo into the meal times or up to the table for homework would have been a really lovely addition. That doesn’t mean that those features are redundant now though because we make full use of the highchair in all its glory. Hugo is comfortable, secure and happy when he is in the highchair which means he’s not desperate for me to pick him up constantly making my life much more comfortable.

Meal times can really get messy with a baby exploring new foods, tastes and textures. Has anyone noticed that baby food is always stark orange in colour and desperate to stain anything in the near vicinity?! That is why I am grateful that the highchair is easy to wipe down after meals and there are no awkward nooks and crannies for crumbs and germs to ferment.

The Chicco Polly Magic Relax Highchair is priced at £124.00 in John Lewis which initially might sound steep however I know this highchair will continue to grow with us as a family making it a great investment. It’s suitable from birth – 36 months and has a multitude of additional features that make being a parent that little bit easier, and we all need that right?!
