Since having Hugo juggling everything has been much harder. I feel like I spend a lot of my time doing little bits of everything but never actually achieving anything. One of the biggest problems to tackle is the housework. It can feel like I am moving in ever decreasing circles trying to keep the place tidy especially with two dogs and two children! It felt like I constantly had the hoover out which in itself was just taking up time I didn’t have. I realised I had two options: either I make everyone live in the garage, or I find a solution to help take care of those in-between cleans before I pulled my hair out. Luckily for my sanity (and to save the kids from getting hypothermia), I have been using the Vileda Easy Sweep which may just be the solution I was looking for.
The whole of our downstairs is laminate flooring, and I seem to spend the majority of my time sweeping or hoovering. Hugo has just started weaning so you can imagine the crumby mess he leaves in his wake and don’t even get me started on the dogs. I don’t want to sound like a primadonna or anything, but sweeping laminate flooring is a joke. The dust and crumbs just seem to ‘wisp’ away, and I find that the majority of my effort is moving the dust and mess from one part of the floor to the next. Hoovering is just as bad albeit far more efficient I have to drag the heavy thing out and plug it in, and you can almost guarantee that by the time I have wound the cable back up I need to get it back out again. That’s where the Vileda Easy Sweep has come in quite handy.
It takes just 3.5 hours to charge and then it runs completely cordless making stressing about cables a thing of the past. Dust, crumbs and pet hair are picked up quickly and easily without the need for a dustpan. It’s so convenient to pick up after the kids without having to do the whole floor or drag out the hoover. It saves me time and makes keeping things tidy much easier.
Emptying the dustbin is simple, and the rollers can be rinsed under the tap. The runtime from a full charge is around 40 minutes, but because I use it here and there for a few minutes at a time it lasts days without the need to charge which means it is always on hand to help!!
The Vileda Easy Sweep will never be able to replace the need for a hoover, but it does mean that I can get the hoover out far less than before. It saves me time and sanity by helping pick up after both the kids and dogs in between my big cleans. It’s incredibly lightweight which means that pulling it out to use is simple and my seven-year-old can even manoeuvre it without issue, which is great for getting him involved with the housework. I was worried that charging the unit would pose an issue – there is nothing worse than going to use an appliance and finding it out of battery! I must say that though I use it every day – multiple times and I have only charged it twice so far so this really hasn’t been an issue at all.
Both of my dogs shed hair on a daily basis, and this is a real issue. I was worried that the Easy Sweep wouldn’t be able to keep up with the hair loss and would struggle to pick it up efficiently having found this in the past with certain cleaners. I have to say that we have had no issue with picking up the dog hair and if anything it is really helping keep on top of it which is music to my ears!
The Vileda Easy Sweep Rechargeable Cordless Sweeper is £44.99 and available from the Vileda website. I think the price is really affordable for the amount of work and effort it is saving me each day. I am stressing less about keeping on top of the housework, and I worry less about the kids making crumbs!
