Advent is the countdown to Christmas and is commonly celebrated with the use of an Advent Calendar commonly filled with chocolate to count down the days to Christmas. However, opening a pre filled calendar is boring and it’s becoming more and more common to see parents setting up elf scenes for their little ones to enjoy each morning. What are Elves Behavin’ Badly?
Elves Behavin’ Badly are essentially two elves Elfie (male) and Elvie (female) who visit over the Christmas period and ultimately cause a bit of mayhem and fun! The idea is that each night when your child goes to bed you would move said elf into a different scene of mischief which creates giggles and wonder when your little ones find them in the morning!
Although this is essentially a tradition for parents and their children there are quite a few adults that enjoy Elves Behavin’ Badly just as much!!!
How can Elves Behavin’ Badly help you?
The way I see it Elves Behavin’ badly will make a great alternative to the standard and rather mundane chocolate and sweets pre-breakfast! It’s a fun way to incorporate Advent that can be unique and personal to your family.
I also plan on telling Henry that Father Christmas sent said elf to keep an eye on him and report back any bad behaviour thus encouraging that sweet angelic side I know is in my child somewhere!!
Elves Behavin’ Badly: Get Creative
The great thing about Elves Behavin’ Badly is that you can be as creative as you like! There are loads of hints and tips on the Elves Behavin’ Badly website and you can think outside the box and do as much or as little as you like! Some of my favourite ideas are:
Using flour for your elf to make snow angels or using mini marshmallows or cotton wool balls to make create elf snow balls!
What did I think?
We were kindly sent Elvie, elf baby Evie, Rudie the reindeer and an elf bed! I personally think that both the Elf and accessories are well made and really fairly priced! I love some of the available accessories on the Elves Behavin’ Badly website and think you could absolutely have some fun creating your elf scenes!
The downside to this type of Advent calendar is remembering to set up your elf scene before bed! I know I’m going to be that Mum that forgets and wakes up at 3am in a cold sweat the mere thought of disappointing my child present! That being said if you are organised (not me) and creative (also not me) then I can imagine this is going to be a great tradition you will do year on year!
I’m really excited to give this calendar a go this year and it will certainly create some giggles!
