Looking Back At 2019

Looking Back At 2019

A new year is a great time to look back at the past 12 months and reflect. 2019 has been a good year on the whole, but I have to admit it has completely flown by. When Christmas rolled around, it felt as though only a month had passed since the year before. This is consistent, and I am convinced each year seems to pass faster and faster.

My Children

It’s bittersweet seeing my children grow. Henry turned eight in 2019, and he is growing and flourishing at a rapid rate. Hugo is 18 months and becoming a boy. He is walking and beginning to talk, and it is hard to remember him as that tiny baby we welcomed into the world. I hate the rate that time seems to pass and I feel as though if I blinked I could miss whole moments. I have come to realise that I cannot slow down the time, but I can make as many memories as possible, and that is precisely what I intend to do moving forward. When I am an old granny sat with my grandchildren at my feet; I want scrapbooks upon scrapbooks bursting with photographs and memories to share!

My Marriage

2019 was an excellent year for my marriage, and I feel through maturity, my relationship with my husband has only grown. He is my best friend, soulmate, confident and number one cheerleader. With his support, I feel like superwoman, and although we have always been best friends, I feel like this last year has really seen that flourish. I hope that for 2020 we get some time for us. We adore our children, but I wouldn’t say no to a night away!!

My Career

I’d say that 2019 was a slow year for everything but my career which really took a front seat. I have been self-employed for three years, and this was my best year yet. It has taken hard work to reach this point, and there is little downtime in a job like this but reaping the rewards makes it all worth it in the end. For 2020 I hope this rising wave continues, but I do want to take time to step back and concentrate on other aspects of my life more too.

My House

We have lived in this house for a year now, and we have finally started to put our own stamp on the place. New builds are lovely, but they are very much blank canvasses requiring work to give them character. We recently decorated our living room, and it’s nice to have a room that is completely finished! My father in law also bought us a gorgeous dining table that finishes our kitchen off perfectly! I’, hoping that in 202 we can get a few other jobs boxed off around the house and hopefully get around to finally unpacking the last few boxes in the garage!!

Looking Back & the Future

2019 was a kind year on the whole, but I would say that bar work I didn’t really achieve anything. For 2020 Iwe plan to go on holiday and completely detach from work and the rest of the world. I have learnt that I am not always entirely present, and this is something I want to change dramatically in the future. Over Christmas, I completely switched off from social media. We went on holiday as a family, and on our return, we spent a few days just us four. It was AMAZING and something I need to make sure I do more of!

How was your year? What are your plans for 2020?
